His garments have been seen on Bollywood superstars as well as billionaire heiresses — and this spring they can be seen on you, when H&M collaborates with India’s most famous fashion designer brand Sabyasachi.

To say that the visual world of India’s biggest name in fashion is colorful is an understatement. Sabyasachi Mukherjee is famous for his vibrant and eclectic styles and the handcrafted beauty behind them.

If you are familiar with Sabyasachi’s extravagant, Indian bridal wear — as seen on actresses such as Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma — you won’t be disappointed. Taking cues from India’s rich textile history, the Sabyasachi x H&M collection mixes modern and traditional silhouettes with a nod towards athleisure and glamping. A key highlight of this collection will be Indian textile and print traditions brought to life by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, meticulously crafted embroidery and multicultural silhouettes.

“Having done couture for the majority of my career, it is very exciting to bring that finesse of craft to ‘ready-to-wear’ and create whimsical and fluid silhouettes that bring relaxed sophistication to everyday life,” says Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Sabyasachi, hailing from Kolkata, launched his eponymous label in the summer of 1999. Twenty years later, he has grown the company to encompass couture, ready-to-wear, fine jewelry and accessories. The designer has five flagship stores across India and has also founded the Sabyasachi Art Foundation, a tribute to his artist mother.

“At H&M, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with iconic designer Sabyasachi, known for his dynamic use of indigenous crafts and textiles — a language so stunning that it permanently altered the fashion and design landscape of the country,” says Ella Soccorsi, Concept Designer at Collaborations & Special Collections, H&M.

The Sabyasachi x H&M collection will offer a complete wardrobe for both ladies and men, including accessories, and will be available at Myntra.com and in all Indian H&M stores, as well as globally in selected stores and online at HM.com starting April 16.
