THE ANGEL
Created as a gift to all New Yorkers and visitors
around the globe, Central Park is the ultimate
collaboration between man and nature. In the center
stands the Bethesda Terrace and Angel — icons
of love, peace and healing. The winged figure stands
as a symbol of protection, artistry and the
indominable spirit of the city.
THE OWL
Perched in a niche, standing guard over the
park’s Bethesda Terrace, is a little, wise owl.
Awakened by a Starburst, they begin a playful
romp through the Park.
ALICE IN
WONDERLAND
George Delacorte, in memory of his wife, presented
to the children of the city a bronze sculpture of
Alice in Wonderland. The fairytale nature of the
park captures the charm of the original story with
Alice surrounded by the characters, including
the White Rabbit.
BALTO
In 1925, a statue was commissioned by New York
City’s dog lovers to commemorate Balto, a sled
dog, who trekked 700 miles to deliver vaccines to
children battling an outbreak of diphtheria in
Nome, Alaska.
THE BEAR
At the entrance of The Friedman Playground in
Central Park is one of several of Paul Manship’s works
celebrating play, animals and children’s stories. These
three bears connect to the Park’s purpose to inspire,
excite the imagination and symbolize the strength that
comes from working together.
WASHINGTON
SQUARE PARK
Every year since 1924, holiday revelers gather in
Washington Square Park for an annual tree-lighting
ceremony. Our magical menagerie ends there in front
of a whimsical Christmas tree decorated with
Elements Pendants and Lexington Chains from
our holiday collections.
